What is Amtgard?
Amtgard Non-Profit, free to join organization.It is a sport, a live-action roleplaying game, a social club, and a lifetime experience. Created in Texas in 1983, Amtgard has grown rapidly and now boasts not only thousands of members in the continental United States and also five groups in Canada.
Using a unique, safety-conscious combat system, Amtgard provides for an exciting way to get fresh air and exercise for anyone over the age of fourteen years. There are dozens of skills to be learned through the society, from sewing to leatherworking to cooking for large groups. As the group is run on an entirely volunteer basis, every aspect is run by active players who are always willing to share their knowledge.
Amtgard is a non profit, non-sectarian group devoted to recreating elements of the medieval, ancient, and fantasy genres. The thrust of Amtgard is both recreational and educational, with major group efforts devoted to reconstructions of medieval combat.
All new and interested players are recommended to read through the Amtgard Newbie Guide , and the Offical Rule Book .

How to Prepare for your first time Larping
As with anything, the first time can be daunting to a new player. Luckily getting started is easy and fun!
Read through the Rule Book and the Newbie Guide , these may answer a lot of questions you initally have.
Contact one of our officers to let them know you're intersted in playing, officers will be able to answer any aditional questions you have about Amtgard.
Pick a class or two you think you'll be most intested in, we'll be able to explain the classes in more depth and give you the oppourtunity to play the classes before you decide which you'd like to level.
We have plenty of extra weapons and garb to lend you for your first few times, but we encourage you to create your own unique coustume to define your character. We have many skilled craftsmen who are more than willing to teach you and help you craft your first set of armor.
